Cleaning and Maintaining Your Vinyl Floor.

Daily

Get rid of the dust from your vinyl floor with a Vacuum cleaner or broom. Removing the dirt or dust daily will prevent it from building up, thus making it easy for you to maintain your floor.

Weekly

Give your vinyl floor a thorough cleaning with warm water, neutral detergent, and a damp mop every weekend. Doing so will help get rid of dirt as well as keep the floor in good shape. Note: when it comes to Vinyl floor cleaning, you do not need plenty of water to clean it. Also, if your Vinyl floor is light colored, you will need to clean it more often.

Removing Stains

Whenever you notice a stain on your vinyl floor, ensure you get rid of it immediately. For example, you can get rid of a spot with the use of nylon pad and detergent. Don't forget to rinse with clean water.

- For vinegar, oil or lemon stains: clean immediately as they may bring about discoloration.

- Blood, tomato, or ink stains are easily cleaned by dropping diluted alcohol on the stain for some 5-10 minutes without scrubbing, then rinse off with clean water.

- Marker and pen stains can be removed by rubbing it with drops of white spirit on a soft cloth and rinsing correctly with clean water.

- For rust, clean with any kind of anti-rust sponge. After cleaning, don't forget to rinse off with clean water.

Cleaning and Care tips

- Put protective pads at the bottom of heavy furniture, table and chair legs

- Prevent rubber bottoms on objects that are resting on your vinyl floor because it may lead to staining.

- Place doormats at entrance ways to reduce the amount of dirt or dust being brought inside.

- Cleaning should always be done with soft detergents.

- Put away hot items like coals, ashes or heaters far from your vinyl floor

What to Avoid

When it comes to cleaning vinyl flooring, there are some areas of caution and products not to use. 

- When vacuuming your vinyl floor, avoid using "beater bar" attachment as it may damage your floor surface.

- Do not use extremely -abrasive scrubbers.

- Don't clean your vinyl floors with: Black soap, abrasive powders, oil-based products or "mop and shine" products.

- Never use solvent-based polishes or paste wax on your vinyl floor.

Cleaning vinyl floors is not a complicated task. Taking good care of your floor will ensure that you have many years to enjoy it in its best condition. You can also hire professional cleaners to do a thorough wash twice a year.
